The mission of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is to acquire and hold lands for the purpose of preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of its citizens.

Established in 1915, the Forest Preserve District owns and manages over 25,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Each year, over 3 million visitors enjoy the Districts 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, five education centers, and scores of scheduled programs and events.
