Arts association honors scholarship winners


The Woodstock Fine Arts Association recently honored their five Helen Wright 2010 scholarship recipients at a Talent Showcase Performance at the Woodstock Opera House.. The public was invited to a free performance given by the recipients featuring Elizabeth Hinley on the Tympani and Marimba, Celia Villacres and Benjamin Valle playing the piano, Susie Miller playing the violin, and Jourdan Morales ballet dancing. Included in the nights performance was Theatrical and Operative Star and former 1988 WFAA Scholarship recipient Kirsten Leslie. Mayor Brian Sagers gave a welcome. Master of Ceremonies, Nancy Porstner, introduced each entertainer and informed the audience to the how and why each of the participants won their scholarships. Darlene LeCrone, Scholarship Chairman gave out the awards. Following the performance was a reception . The Blossom Shop provided the stage flowers and John Scharres, Managing Director of the Woodstock Opera House, prepared the wonderful selection of refreshments.
