Winnetka, April 30-May 7: Five windows of home broken, and more

The following incidents were taken from Winnetka Police Department reports between April 30-May 7


Two bicycles were reported stolen from an open, attached garage in the 1000 block of Dinsmore Road at 8:33 a.m. May 1. The loss was estimated at $400, and likely took place between 5:15 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. April 30.


A $200 GPS device was reported stolen from an unlocked van parked in the 1000 block of Gage Street between 12:20 p.m. and 12:34 p.m. April 30.


A $60 Lego play set was reported stolen between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. May 1 from a business in the 800 block of Elm Street.

An 18-year-old Wilmette woman was arrested at 12:09 p.m. April 30 and charged with two counts of theft in relation to multiple incidents that took place April 26in the girls’ locker room at New Trier High School, 385 Winnetka Ave. An iPhone and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen.


Five windows were reported broken at a house in the 800 block of Glen Oak Drive at 6:42 p.m. May 3. The repair cost was estimated at $1,200.

Graffiti was discovered on a bridge wall near the corner of Winnetka Avenue and Wilson Street at 1:58 a.m. May 2. The cost to remove the graffiti was estimated at $50.

The rear driver’s side door of a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue was reported scratched between noon and 12:59 p.m. May 1, resulting in an unknown amount of damage.


An 18-year-old Winnetka man was arrested at 1:08 a.m. May 6 near the corner of Hibbard and Willow roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and cited with improper lane usage and driving with one tail light.

A 24-year-old Lake Villa man was arrested at 3:21 a.m. May 3 in the 800 block of Pine Tree Lane and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and cited with improper lane usage, failure to dim headlights and driving with a license on his person.


A 22-year-old Evanston woman was arrested at 9:13 p.m. May 2 in the 500 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving with a suspended license and cited for driving without proof of insurance and driving with one headlight.
