Local Romney delegates selected

Two New Trier Township residents were selected to potentially represent presidential candidate Mitt Romney as delegates at the Republican National Convention.

Richard W. Porter of Winnetka and Katherine Dold White of Kenilworth were selected recently by Illinois Republican Party leadership as delegates for Romney, whom the local New Trier Republican Organization is endorsing in the March 20 primary. The local organization’s chairman, William Cadigan, was selected as an alternate delegate, according to a press release.

Other Romney delegates from Illinois’ Ninth Congressional District, which includes New Trier Township, are Daniel B. Peterson of Glenview, Don Haider of Chicago, and Adam Robinson of Chicago.

During the March 20 primary, voters can select their preference for their party’s Presidential nomination, but also may vote for delegates to represent their Congressional District at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

Romney is the only presidential candidate in Illinois with a full slate of delegates, according to the New Trier Republican Organization press release.
