Domestic Violence Court Watch Program at Skokie Courthouse Seeks Volunteers

Domestic and intimate partner violence affects up to 50% of all families in the U.S. today; every 12 seconds a woman is beaten and every six hours a woman is killed. Would you like to help reduce domestic violence? Join the volunteer Court Watch program at the Skokie Courthouse and contribute to this worthwhile project in a convenient location.

Court Watch programs send trained, volunteer observers into court rooms to observe and report proceedings to ensure fair legal treatment of the victims of domestic violence. Court watch programs increase awareness of those involved in the judicial process of public interest and concern, and enable advocacy for needed services.

The Skokie Courthouse Court Watch program, sponsored by the NCJWCNS (National Council of Jewish Women, Chicago North Shore Section) is looking for volunteers. You will be well trained to observe and report what you see, before you ever observe on your own. You many choose morning (9:30a-noon) or afternoon (1:30-4:00p) time slots as your schedule permits.

If you would like to volunteer or have questions, please contact Joanne at or leave a message at 847.853.8889.

NCJW is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.
