Defining Moments 'Summer Shop' & 'Mrs. Pattie' A Hit, Extend NRS Raffle Ticket Sales to August 12th

Defining Moments "Summer Shop Bazaar" & "Mrs. Pattie" Mini-Talk to help the National Runaway Switchboard was a hit on Saturday, July 30th in East Wilmette, but attendance fell short of the mark the organizers were hoping for. But the summer's heat, flooding, and weather's trials isn't going to stop Defining Moments and those involved in the July 30th event from trying to raise as many dollars as possible to help the National Runaway Switchboard with its mission to help keep Teens safe across the United States.

"We never are really able to tell when our shop bazaars here at Defining Moments Scrapbook Store will be a huge hit, or more of a quiet roar," said Jocelyn Tobias, founder and owner of the Wilmette store providing scrapbooking services and paper crafting capabilities to customers interested in the 'resurrected art' many are finding so fun to do here in East Wilmette. "We hoped more folks would've been able to join us, but we were all so pleased to be with Maureen Blaha, Executive Director of the National Runaway Switchboard and Pattie Bross, local speaker and educational consultant, here on Saturday to present, "Ready, Set, Organize Your Child to Learn!," said Tobias. Our customers and friends with us really had a great time, and we decided to extend the chance for the public and customers to continue to buy raffle tickets in support of our attempts to raise money for National Runaway Switchboard a few more weeks until Friday, August 12th," said Tobias.

Providing a peek at what the raffle includes, for those not able to visit the store on Saturday July 30th, Tobias said, "The prizes we're offering include gift certificates for Bobtails Ice Cream Treats; a $150.00 Ben Elsass Photo Shoot for families and children; a pair of Chicago Cubs Baseball Tickets for the Monday, September 19th, 7:05 p.m. home game at Wrigley Field against the Milwaukee Brewers; a 'Ruffles' Brooch & Jewelry "Party in a Box" from Mary Felish's new line of Premier Designs Jewelry; and a "Fun At The Beach" Memories Scrapbook and Papercrafts Kit from our store. All priceless I would say!," said Tobias with a smile. Tickets for the raffle may be purchased at Defining Moments and they are priced at 3 for $10.00 or 1 for $5.00 each, all raffle proceeds will go directly to the National Runaway Switchboard. The Store will accept cash or checks for the raffle tickets and the drawing will be held on Friday, August 12th at Defining Moments.

"The more people that help the NRS get our message out to the public, the better," said Maureen Blaha, Executive Director of the National Runaway Switchbaord (NRS), located at 3080 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. "We're very grateful to Defining Moments, the Tobiases, "Mrs. Pattie" Bross, their participating Bazaar merchants, Invitations and Celebrations and Premier Designs Jewelry for their support of the event and our cause," continued Blaha. "We hope the supporters of the raffle know we appreciate their help too, and we're gateful for every dollar of support we're able to raise from people buying raffle tickets, especially in this down economy," Blaha said. "NRS's mission is to keep Amerca's runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth safe and off the streets," said Blaha. Due to people such as Jocelyn Tobias and others with her on July 30th, our runaway 'silent' crisis is becoming more understood, and that's a great thing for NRS and the teens across America, we need all the help possible, and we're grateful to all for their help from Wilmette's Defining Moments and their supporting customers and community," said Blaha.
