Wilmette, April 25-30: Several unlocked autos burglarized, and more

The following incidents were taken from Wilmette Police Department reports on April 25-30.

AUTO BURGLARY

An unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 900 block of Ashland Avenue was entered sometime between 11 p.m. April 27 and 5:30 a.m. April 28. Nothing was reported stolen.

An unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway the 900 block of Ashland Avenue was entered sometime between 11:45 p.m. April 27 and 7:30 a.m. 28 and $1 in change was reported stolen.

A vehicle, possibly unlocked, was reportedly entered as it was parked overnight in the 1100 block of Ashland Avenue between 7:30 p.m. April 27 and 8 a.m. April 28. Compact discs worth $50 were stolen.

A vehicle, possibly unlocked, was burglarized between 8 p.m. April 27 and 11:42 a.m. April 28 as it was parked in a driveway in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue. A driver’s license, two credit cards and $700 in cash were taken from a wallet that had been left in the car.

An unlocked vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 900 block of Oakwood Avenue was reportedly entered sometime between 3 p.m. April 27 and 11:30 a.m. April 28. Nothing was reported stolen.

An unlocked vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 900 block of Oakwood Avenue was reportedly entered sometime between 5:30 p.m. April 27 and 7:45 a.m. April 28. Nothing was reported stolen.

Two unlocked vehicles parked in a driveway in the first block of Canterbury Court were entered sometime between 11 p.m. April 26 and 5 a.m. April 27. Nothing was reported stolen.

Two unlocked vehicles parked in a driveway in the first block of Crescent Place were entered sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. April 26. Nothing was reported stolen. A backpack taken from one of the vehicles was discovered by a neighbor in their front lawn.

A $100 purse with $60-80 inside was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a parking lot at 3232 Lake Ave. sometime between 11:20 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. April 22 while the owner’s children were getting haircuts. The burglary was reported to police April 29.

THEFT

A 45-year-old Chicago woman and a 51-year-old Chicago woman were arrested at 5:15 p.m. April 30 at Carson Pirie Scott, 3200 Lake Ave., and charged with theft after they allegedly tried to steal two shirts worth a combined $136.

An unlocked $80 bicycle, spray painted black, was reported stolen from outside a home in the 900 block of Ashland Avenue sometime between 11:45 p.m. April 27 and 7:30 p.m. April 28.

A $300 purse with an Apple iPhone in it was reported stolen April 29. The theft likely took place April 22 while the owner attended a fundraiser at Michigan Shores Country Club, 911 Michigan Ave.

OBSTRUCTING

An 18-year-old Chicago man was cited at 2:09 p.m. April 27 at Plaza Del Lago, 1515 Sheridan Road, and cited with obstructing a peace officer after receiving a complaint of a solicitor at the shopping center. He was turned over to the River Forest Police Department, which had a warrant for his arrest, also for obstructing a peace officer.

DUI

A 44-year-old Lombard man was arrested at 12:45 a.m. April 29 in the 200 block of Pin Oak Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a homeowner in that block called police to report a man honking his horn in her driveway.

A 23-year-old Skokie man was arrested at 1:33 a.m. April 28 near the corner of Glenview and Glenwood roads in Glenview and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance and disobeying a red light.

A 57-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 2:36 a.m. April 26 in the 800 block of Hibbard Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, making an improper turn and improper lane usage.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

A 52-year-old Wilmette woman was cited April 27 with a local ordinance for alcohol-parental responsibility after a vacant home she owned in the 1700 block of Lake Avenue was allegedly used for an underage drinking party.

FRAUD

A counterfeit $10 bill — noticeably smaller than a real bill — was discovered April 29 at Millen Hardware, 1219 Wilmette Ave.

HIT AND RUN

A woman’s vehicle, parked overnight in a lot in the 3500 block of Lake Avenue, was reported damaged at 9:15 a.m. April 28. She found the driver’s side mirror was detached and hanging from the car. There was duct tape residue around the mirror and on the ground indicating that someone may have tried to reattach it. There was no estimate for the amount of the damage.
