Calling all dogs! Fetch your favorite leash, wag your tail, and bring your human companion for some canine fun during the fifth-annual “Ruff’n It” at Greene Valley Forest Preserve in Naperville on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free, and reservations are not required.

Join a variety of activities for pups and people. See demonstrations of obedience-training techniques and canine law-enforcement practices. Interact with staff and volunteers from several animal-adoption organizations and canine-focused businesses. Check out “Pet Parenting 101” demonstrations for basic information on keeping pets healthy through exercise and preventative care and to learn proper techniques for trimming nails, caring for ears and brushing teeth. Bring your questions to the “Ask a Vet” station featuring Dr. Jen from the District’s Willowbrook Wildlife Center.

“Ruff’n It” takes place outside the off-leash dog area at Greene Valley Forest Preserve. All dogs at the event must be leashed and remain well-mannered and under control at all times. To enter the off-leash area, an advance-purchase permit is required for each dog.

The off-leash area is located near Greene Valley’s north parking lot on Greene Road one-quarter mile south of Hobson Road. For information on “Ruff’n It,” call 630-792-2100.
