Westmont Offers Exciting Lineup for Thursdays This Summer

Westmont Fresh Marketplace Starts Thursday

Date Issued: June 4, 2012

After months of preparation, the Westmont Special Events Corporation (WSEC) will be kicking off its newest event, the Westmont Fresh Marketplace (WFM), this Thursday, June 7. The market takes place on Thursdays from June thru September on West Burlington Avenue at Cass Avenue in Downtown Westmont.

The Westmont Fresh Marketplace will host over 15 different vendors that will offer a large variety of items. On the list of vendors are produce farmers that will feature a wide selection of farm fresh fruits and vegetables, farm raised pork and Great Lakes fish, plus Michigan preserves and the Cheese People. In addition, there will be specialty food products such as spices, flavored oils, gluten free bakery, pesto, and more. And for the finishing touches, local artists will share their works, plus you can pick up some treats for your favorite pet or a snack for the kids. The market will be open from 4:00-8:00pm each week.

The lineup for Thursday evening doesn’t just include the new market, but Westmont Cruisin’ Nights as well. Each week will have a new theme, reserved parking for car owners, free raffles and more. There is a weekly kids’ activity plus live music every night. Watch for specialty events throughout the summer including sports & games, remote controlled car demos and special giveaways.

“Ultimately, our goal is to coordinate successful community events that can be enjoyed by Westmont residents as well as people from surrounding communities,” says WSEC President Larry McIntyre. “We want people to associate coming to downtown Westmont with having the opportunity to go out with family and friends and have a great time. Of course, that includes shopping and eating at the various downtown businesses.”
