Students in the Vernon Hills High School Business Management and Intro to Business classes have partnered with Tom & Eddie's in Vernon Hills for a real-world product marketing experience. With the help of their teachers, Janet Kovarik and Beth Richards, and Tom & Eddie's Operations Manager Rich Ward, the students have been busy researching, taste testing and ultimately developing a burger that will be on the menu at Tom & Eddie's, 1260 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills, on Monday, May 14 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Dubbed The Burger Challenge, the burger that makes the most amount of profit will win the challenge. The winning class receives lunch from Tom & Eddies, and Tom & Eddies will donate the profits to the charity chosen by the class. In addition, the winning burger will remain on the menu at the Vernon Hills restaurant for a month.

The Burger Challenge will include the following burgers developed by each class as noted:

1st hour Management class — The Ballpark Burger which will benefit ASPCA
4th hour Intro to Business class — The All American Burger which will benefit Make-A-Wish
8th hour Management class — The LoneStar Burger which will benefit Feeding America

As part of the marketing plan, each class is designing individual print ads for its specific burger, which will be displayed in the VHHS Business hallway and in classroom around VHHS.
