Lake County Family YMCAs to Honor Military Heroes in November

Lake County Family YMCA is joining forces with the Armed Services YMCA and the president of the United States in dedicating the month of November to military families.

As a demonstration of its commitment to serving them, Military Family Day celebrations will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills, and Saturday, Nov. 19, at Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave. in Waukegan. By showing their military ID on those dates, all active duty personnel, veterans and their families can share the Y experience free of charge the entire day.

From 9 a.m. to noon, participants can view military displays and demonstrations. Lake County Family YMCA members also will have the opportunity to express their appreciation to the military personnel in attendance and learn more about their service to our country while enjoying light refreshments together.

Other activities will be available all day during each Military Family Day celebration. They include taking a group fitness class, working out in the Y fitness center or enjoying the family-friendly swimming pool and adult spa area.
Participants also will be able to sign the Military Heroes wall honoring family and friends who have served their country, create a special “thank you” card to give to a military family or child, and learn about the military discounts and family programming offered by the Y.

For those with young children (ages 6 months to 8 years), drop-in babysitting is available free of charge for up to two hours during Lake County Family YMCA Military Family Day celebrations.

All Lake County Family YMCA programs are designed to encourage the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. For more information, visit www.lakecountyymca.org or call (847) 367-6797.
