Skilling: As much rain this week as in past month

There will be no shortage of rain in the days to come. As much rain may fall over the coming five days — more than 2 inches on average — as has fallen over the past 33 days.

This bodes well for making a dent in the drought pattern that has plagued parts of the Chicago metro area in recent months.

An atmosphere loaded with moisture, combined with the warmest temperatures of the past six weeks, sets the stage for periods of active, possibly severe thunderstorms.
