[Rosemont, Chicago-Jefferson Park, IL] Northwestern College’s Chicago-Jefferson Park Campus recently hosted its 2012 Career Fair, which was a resounding success! Over 200 job seekers attended the event, including students, alumni, and members of the public. The event featured over twenty employers and recruiters interested in filling various positions.

According to Laura Soria, Northwestern College’s Chicago Campus Director, with the unemployment rate continuing to remain high, it is imperative for colleges to do everything they can to assist students in obtaining employment. Northwestern College’s successful career fair demonstrated employers are interested in hiring, she commented, and that students are investing their efforts well before graduation in order to obtain employment after earning a college degree.

Northwestern College opened its 2012 Career Fair to current students, alumni, and the general public, with all three categories participating. Some of the businesses that took part in the 2012 Career Fair included: Hilton Worldwide – Chicago Employment Center; Clearbrook; Kohl's Department Stores; the United States Secret Service; Family Health Network; Roma Staffing & Management Systems; DeVry University; RCN Chicago; State Farm Insurance; Best Price Moving Storage; U.S. Army; Mary Kay Inc.; the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs; National Louis University; Ultimate Staffing; the Illinois Department of Employment Security; Harmony Health Plan of Illinois; AFLAC; and the Computer Training Institute of Chicago.

The success of the Career Fair would not have been possible without the efforts of Northwestern College’s Career Development and Alumni Relations Coordinator, Greg Norton, the Office of Career Development & Alumni Relations, and the many volunteers who assisted.

“A good education builds the foundation for a successful career,” commented Lawrence Schumacher, President of Northwestern College. “We are excited to have provided connections for our students to so many prominent businesses in our Chicagoland area and beyond. We are hopeful that these connections will lead to full time employment opportunities. Northwestern College remains committed to assisting our students and graduates in obtaining employment in their fields of study.”
