Protect yourself from health care fraud with State Rep Daniel Biss

Date: August 17th
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: Glenview Senior Center, 2400 Chestnut Avenue

Both in the United States and here in Illinois, we are grappling with the question of how to create the best possible health care system. This means not only thinking about the best way to administer care, but also trying to close some of the cracks in our current system. While we may not hear about it often, health care fraud is unfortunately prevalent in every state and every community in the country. Oftentimes, individuals are unaware that they have fallen victim to Medicare or Medicaid fraud, putting them at risk for other forms of identity theft. On a larger scale, of course, fraud places an exceptional cost on taxpayers and the system as a whole.

I am therefore pleased to invite you to a seminar on Medicare and Medicaid fraud. The Illinois Senior Medicare Patrol, a program of AgeOptions funded by the U.S. Administration on Aging, will help us understand how we can protect ourselves from fraud, how to detect if we have fallen victim to fraud, and how to effectively report fraudulent behavior. I think the information they will provide will be extremely helpful in making sure that we can protect ourselves and our neighbors.

The seminar, co-hosted by North Shore Senior Center, will be on August 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the Glenview Senior Center, located at 2400 Chestnut Avenue in Glenview. It is free and open to the public; I hope you will be able to join me.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns at 847-568-1250 or I hope to see you on August 17th!
