Man sentenced to 180 days in jail for driving on DUI-related revoked license, and more

These incidents and arrests were taken from Romeoville Police reports released March 29 and April 5, and information from the Will County Circuit Clerk’s Office and Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Jail, Probation on Revoked License

  • A 45-year-old Romeoville man from the 1600 block of Daylily Drive was sentenced March 27 to 180 days in jail and received a two-year suspended sentence on a conviction for driving on a DUI-related revoked license in November 2009.

Motor Vehicle Parts Theft

  • A resident of the 500 block of Willow Court escaped injury March 24 when a wheel fell off his car while driving away from home. All of the wheel lug nuts, valued at $25, had been removed while the vehicle was parked overnight on the street.

Public Violence

  • A 40-year-old Bolingbrook man was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault and aggravated battery, and a 38-year-old Plainfield man was arrested for aggravated assault during a 7:15 p.m. March 20 police contact on the 200 block of Gordon Avenue.
  • A 20-year-old Romeoville man from the 0-100 block of Harmony Lane was arrested March 19 for aggravated battery during a 10:55 p.m. police contact on the 0-100 block of Weber Road.

Thefts

  • A semi-trailer valued at $25,000 was reported taken April 2 from a lot on the 100 block of Anton Drive.
  • Three Chicago men, aged 44, 21 and 21, were arrested March 26 for theft over $500 and criminal trespass during a 1:10 a.m. police contact on the 800 block of Schmidt Road.
  • Three bicycles valued at $425 were reported taken March 17 from the yard of a residence on the 300 block of Hickory Avenue.

Burglary

  • A Mongoose bicycle valued at $140 was reported taken March 25 from a residential garage on the 100 block of Wedgeport Circle.

Criminal Damage to Property

  • Several juveniles were arrested around 8:50 a.m. March 25 for criminal damage to property after they allegedly used rocks to break windows at a home on the 300 block of Fremont Avenue.
  • A residential front window on the 700 block of Farragut Avenue was reported shattered April 2 by a marble that had been used as projectile. Damage is estimated at $200.
  • Damage estimated at $200 was reported March 18 to a residential front window on the 600 block of Driftwood Avenue shattered by a rock.
  • Spray-paint-related damage estimated at $50 was reported March 22 to a fence at Wesglen Parkway and Sunflower Drive.
  • Several mailboxes were reported knocked off their roadside post on the 1700 block of Fiddyment Drive on March 24. They were valued at $50 apiece.

Criminal Damage to Vehicles

  • Passenger-side tires were reported slashed April 1 on three vehicles parked in a lot on the 400 block of North Weber Road. Damage is estimated at $180-$400 per vehicle.
  • Permanent marker-related damage estimated at $800 was reported April 1 to a vehicle parked on the 700 block of Pinetree Court reported a criminal damage to property.

DUI

  • A 26-year-old homeless Joliet man was arrested March 17 for aggravated DUI/no driver’s license and aggravated fleeing police during a traffic stop for speeding/31-39 mph above the speed limit, no lights after dark, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding a traffic-control device, improper lane use and improper turn signal. He also was ticketed for not wearing a seat belt and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

Aggravated Speeding

  • An 18-year-old Romeoville male from the 600 block of Belmont Drive was arrested March 29 for aggravated speeding during a 2:45 p.m. traffic stop at Weber Road and Paragon Drive for driving more than 40 mph above the posted speed limit.

Drug-Related

  • A 34-year-old Romeoville man from the 400 block of Everette Avenue is scheduled to be arraigned April 16 on one count of production of 20-50 cannabis plants, one count of possession of a firearm with a revoked gun permit and one count of possessing of 30-500 grams of cannabis with intent to sell. He was arrested March 11 by Romeoville Police. Each count is a Class 3 felony, punishable by a 2- to 5-year sentence, if convicted.

Retail Thefts

  • A 39-year-old Romeoville woman from the 900 block of Harvard Court was arrested March 25 for retail theft during a 7:45 p.m. police contact on the 200 block of South Weber Road.
  • A 28-year-old woman, 26-year-old man, 26-year-old woman and 17-year-old female – all from Joliet – were arrested March 20 during a 3:05 p.m. police contact at a store on the 400 block of Weber Road.
