Will County Land Use Department found on YouTOWN app

JOLIET — Smart phone users can keep up with the Will County Land Use Department’s activities by downloading the YouTOWN app, a mobile platform designed for government agencies.

“As far as we can tell, this is the first government group in Will County utilizing this free app,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh.

Land Use Department staff became aware of the free application while working with consultant Urban Interactive Studio to upgrade the department’s website. The smart phone application is available on the Land Use Department website, or can be accessed through a phone’s app service.

Currently, meetings, agendas, events and announcements are posted. Plans are to add maps and other government services to the app in the near future.

“Becoming part of YouTOWN fits in with the department’s goal of transparency, as well as being a convenience to those who utilize that office,” said Walsh.
