Homegrown and Handmade Author to Present at March 12 Green Village Event

Plainfield, IL — Deborah Niemann, author of the popular new book, Homegrown and Handmade, will be speaking at the upcoming Green Village Lecture Series, at 7 p.m., Monday, March 12, at the Plainfield Public Library.

Why homegrown and handmade? Why would anyone want to have a garden, milk goats, or bake bread from scratch? Learn why homegrown and handmade food is not only less expensive, but also better for you and the environment. Ms. Niemann is an accomplished author and self-sufficiency expert who successfully made the transition from suburban Chicago to a 32-acre homestead in Cornell, Illinois nearly a decade ago. Program attendees will learn tips on becoming more self-sufficient. One lucky winner will receive a free copy of the book and all will have a chance to purchase their own.

The Green Village Lecture Series is a partnership between the Village of Plainfield and the Plainfield Public Library District to host monthly workshops with an environmental focus. Events are held the second Monday of each month, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Plainfield Public Library. Programs are free but registration is requested.
