Alden Estates of Shorewood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center offers customized a customized Cardiac Recovery Program.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Alden Estates of Shorewood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is a customized program of exercise and education that is specially designed for patients recovering from heart attack, other forms of heart disease or heart surgery.

“The objective of cardiac rehabilitation is to build up the patient’s strength through carefully monitored exercises while, at the same time, lessening the risk of future heart problems by providing dietary counseling and education about lifestyle changes,” says Administrator Annette Borcky, RN.

When Alden Estates of Shorewood opens in May, cardiac patients will benefit from heart-healthy practices such as nutritious meals, daily exercise routines and stress/anxiety management. Throughout their stay, the patient’s condition and progress will be monitored 24 hours a day by an interdisciplinary team of licensed therapists and nursing staff.

Physical, occupational and speech therapies will be offered daily in the facility’s spacious Therapy Center, which will feature an array of state-of-the-art therapy equipment and treatment modalities to treat each individual’s unique condition.

“In cardiac rehabilitation, patients learn how to exercise safely, increase their daily physical activity, follow a heart-healthy diet and improve their overall emotional health,” Borcky says. “When these lifestyle changes become routine, the patient’s risk for future heart problems can be significantly reduced.”

Alden Estates of Shorewood specializes in short-term orthopedic recovery and post-acute services and is located at 710 W. Black Rd. in Shorewood. For more information about the facility, call 815-230-8700.
