Brian Nebel, Administrator of Heritage Woods of Plainfield, cuts the ribbon to mark the completion of construction of the affordable assisted living community in Plainfield, Illinois

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 to mark the completion of construction of the Heritage Woods of Plainfield affordable assisted living community in Plainfield, Illinois.

The $18 million development houses 108 apartments and has been certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program, which enables the community to serve older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid.

“We are so proud to be here,” said Blair Minton, Founder of Blair Minton & Associates, the company that developed Heritage Woods. “The Supportive Living program is one of the best things that the Illinois legislature has ever created.”

When Heritage Woods of Plainfield opens its doors and welcomes its first residents on Dec. 1, it will be the 133 Supportive Living community in Illinois.

“I know people in town are excited,” said Michael Collins, Mayor of the Village of Plainfield. “Plainfield is one of the oldest towns in Will County. People can stay here and be close to their children.”

More than 70 of the apartments at Heritage Woods already have been reserved.

Located on the east side of South Van Dyke Road, north of Rte. 126/Lockport Rd, the community combines apartment home living with the availability of personal assistance and support services.

Older adults in the Plainfield area who need some help to maintain their independence but do not have the financial resources to afford private pay assisted living will especially benefit, said Minton.

The community will be managed by BMA Management, Ltd., of Bradley, Illinois (bma-mgmt.com). BMA is the largest provider of affordable assisted living in Illinois and the 18th largest provider of assisted living in the United States.

“Our emphasis will be on providing loving and compassionate care and on helping each resident achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible,” says Rod Burkett, President of BMA Management.

Professional nurses are the backbone of our staff, assessing each resident and developing individualized plans of service.

Each of the private studio and one-bedroom apartments at Heritage Woods features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom and emergency response system. Community areas include an activity room, beauty/barber shop, dining room, exercise area, library, multi-purpose room, porch, TV room and Florida themed lounge room.

Residents of Heritage Woods of Plainfield will receive the personal assistance they need and benefit from the availability of three meals a day, housekeeping and laundry services. They also will be able to enjoy the companionship of friends and neighbors and the opportunity to participate in social, recreational and educational activities.

Certified nurses assistants will be on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide help with medications, bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting in and out of bed.

The Heritage Woods of Plainfield community was designed by Gleason Architects, PC, of Sugar Grove, Illinois. Horve Builders of Forysth, Illinois, is the General Contractor.

BMA Management currently manages 35 senior living communities, housing more than 3,100 homes and apartments. Thirty-two of the communities are certified for Supportive Living.

The communities managed by BMA include Heritage Woods of Bolingbrook and Heritage Woods of Yorkville.
