April Events at the Green Hills Public Library

“The Golden Age of Radio”
Join radio historian and "Those Were the Days" host Steve Darnall for a look at the period known as the "Golden Age" of radio, with sound clips from some of the era's most legendary performers (including Jack Benny and Bob Hope) and a look at how radio both exercised the imagination and led to the birth of mass media in America. This is the Annual Friends of the Library Membership Drive. A $3.00 fee will be required for entry into the program, which includes a Friends of the Library membership. Thursday, April 12th at 6:30pm. Registration required.

Family Movie Time
Come with the family to enjoy a free movie. We will be showing “Kung Fu Panda.” Each person gets popcorn and lemonade! All ages are welcome. Friday, April 13th at 4:00pm. Registration required.

Movie & Lunch – “Midnight in Paris”
Join film critic, Josh Larsen, while enjoying a “French-style” lunch and escape to Paris with this romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. Space is limited to the first 50 registrants. Tuesday, April 17th at 12:00pm. Registration required.

Robin’s Dog Stars
Starlight and her owner/trainer, Robin Bengtson, are coming to the library! In the show, Starlight will perform about 30 tricks, some of which include jumping through hoops, climbing a ladder, and getting a tissue when Robin sneezes. Saturday, April 21st at 1:30pm. Registration required.

Cabaret Paree
April in Paris would not be complete without Cabaret Paree, a French Jazz ensemble featuring Claudia Hommel. Enjoy a combination of French songs, American standards, 19th and 20th century art songs and theatre music. Come in for a fun-filled evening of music. Take your picture by the Eiffel Tower! Monday, April 23rd at 7:00pm. Registration required.

Book Club
We will be discussing “A Discovery of Witches” by Deborah Harkness and “The Next American Economy: Blueprint for a Real Recovery” by William Holstein. Both books are available from the Green Hills Public Library and are also available to download from this link on the Library’s website, The Library also has 6 devices preloaded with these titles; they are available on a first come first served basis.
