Engagement ring, other items stolen from home, and more

The following items were taken from Palatine Police reports on June 26.


  • An engagement ring, valued at $2,500, and a video game system, valued at $350, along with a laptop computer, a video game, a DVD and a digital camera were stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. June 25 from a home in the 2200 block of North Baldwin Way.
  • Jewelry and electronics were stolen between 7:25 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 25 from a home in the 1100 block of East Nichols Road.
  • A set of golf clubs, valued at $200; a golf bag, valued at $100; and a tool bag with tools, valued at $600, were stolen between 6:45 and 10:45 p.m. June 22 from an SUV parked in the 300 block of MacArthur Drive.
  • Prescription drugs and $2 in cash were stolen between 9:30 p.m. June 21 and 12:45 p.m. June 22 from a car parked in the 600 block of North Walden Drive. Entry was made by forcing the driver’s side door open.
  • A purse was stolen between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. June 22 from an unlocked car parked in the 2100 block of North Westmoreland Drive.
  • A chainsaw and a leaf blower were stolen between June 16 and 23 from an unlocked shed in the 900 block of North Rohlwing Road.


  • A bicycle, valued at $800, was stolen between June 18 and 23 from an open garage in the 1500 block of West Ethans Glen Drive.
  • A bicycle, valued at $150, was stolen between 6 p.m. June 20 and 9:15 p.m. June 21 from a porch in the 500 block of East Spruce Drive.

Driving under the influence

  • A 53-year-old Cary man was arrested at 1:39 a.m. June 23 in the 1200 block of West Algonquin Road, and charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence at a roadside safety check.
