Man, 22, allegedly beat girlfriend in Orland Square Mall, and more

The following items were taken from Orland Park Police reports released April 2-9.

Domestic Violence

  • A 22-year-old Robbins man was arrested around 7 p.m. March 20 after allegedly attacking his girlfriend on the lower level of Orland Square Mall. At the request of the manager of a kiosk involved in the incident, police added disorderly conduct to charges of domestic battery and breach of peace. The girlfriend, who had red marks on her neck and scratches on her arms, said, “If this happened at the mall, you can only imagine what happens at home.” Police said the man was also wanted for burglary in San Francisco, Calif.

Assault

  • A 23-year-old Orland Park man from the 9800 block of Cordoba Court was arrested March 23 for aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened a resident on the 10800 block of Crystal Meadow Court with a knife. Police took the man into custody in a drugstore parking lot on the 14600 block of LaGrange Road after the complainant identified him. The defendant and another man allegedly had gone to the residence looking for a third man, were told to leave, remained parked in a pickup truck in the driveway and threatened the homeowner when he approached them.
  • A 50-year-old Chicago man is scheduled to appear in court May 1 on an assault charge stemming from an alleged March 25 incident at a residence on the 8200 block of Stonehenge Drive. Police said he beat up a 66-year-old man around 11:15 a.m.

DUI

  • A 24-year-old Orland Park woman from the 7500 block of Halesia Court was arrested around 11:40 p.m. March 20 for DUI after police noticed her male passenger urinating in the street on the 14300 block of 85th Avenue behind her idling vehicle.┬áPolice also cited the 22-year-old Orland Park man from the 14200 block of Streamstown Court for disorderly conduct.
  • A 55-year-old Tinley Park man was arrested March 30 for DUI during a 10:10 p.m. traffic stop on the 15400 block of LaGrange Road for improper lane use.
  • A 49-year-old Matteson man was arrested March 22 for DUI and ticketed for following too closely during a 5:40 p.m. traffic stop on the 8700 block of 143rd Street. Police reportedly were responding to a complaint of a motorist who kept driving into the curb. He is scheduled to appear in court May 7.
  • A 35-year-old Tinley Park man was arrested March 4 for DUI and ticketed for operating a motor vehicle with a malfunctioning rear registration plate light during a 3 a.m. traffic stop on the 14400 block of LaGrange Road by police responding to a “reckless driver” complaint. Court hearing information was unavailable.
  • A 31-year-old Orland Park man from the 17200 block of Brookgate Drive was arrested March 22 for DUI during a 7:20 p.m. traffic stop on the 16800 block of Wolf Road. Police said they encountered the motorist in response to a complaint from a motorist whose vehicle he allegedly had hit on the 9600 block of 161st Street. He is scheduled to appear in court May 17.
  • A 22-year-old Lemont man was arrested March 20 for DUI and ticketed for improper lane use and failing to signal during a 4 a.m. traffic stop at 88th Avenue and Clearview Drive. Court hearing information was unavailable.

Drug-Related

  • A 39-year-old Orland Park man from the 8600 block of Lexington Circle was arrested March 21 for driving on a revoked license and possession of cannabis during an 8:50 p.m. traffic stop near his home for speeding and operating a motor vehicle with a defective windshield. Police said they found nearly 35 grams of cannabis in the car in a jar and a plastic sandwich bag.
