Chicago Tribune endorsements for the Illinois House

78th District: Michael Nardello is running as an outsider against an incumbent who was tapped by the Democratic establishment to fill this seat in 2010. A smart and qualified candidate, Nardello is longtime director of finance and administration for the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services. He ran a successful beat-the-Machine campaign for 36th Ward Ald. Nicholas Sposato. But Rep. Camille Lilly is no lightweight. She has deep roots in the district — she grew up in Oak Park, is founder and former executive director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce and remains a part-time administrator at Loretto Hospital — and she has worked hard to learn the ropes in Springfield. She is endorsed.
