Maple School donated $500 and 500 food items to the Northfield Township Food Pantry on June 2.

Northbrook School District 28 recently initiated a food collection competition between Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 and Northbrook School District 27 to see which school could collect the most food for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. Maple School won the competition by amassing 500 non-perishable food items. In addition, Student Council Co-sponsors Lynn Reimer and Julie Fleisch organized popcorn sales during the lunch hour on Fridays for five months to raise funds for the pantry.

On June 2, Maple's Student Council President Tori McMenamin presented Northfield Township Food Pantry Community Coordinator Gayle Zalatoris with a check for $500. Many Student Council members and others took part in this activity. Students who helped load the food items into a car bound for the food pantry included Nick Shah, Dustin George, Allan Dontsis and Shyan Jung. This school community-wide effort will help fill the pantry shelves and feed the over 650 needy families in the area.
