A 21-year-old New Lenox man is the third Will County resident to be arrested and charged with possession of child pornography since the formation of the state’s attorney’s high-technology crimes unit in February.

Justin M. White, taken into custody May 8 at his home on the 1500 block of Monarch Avenue, is scheduled to appear in court June 5 on five counts of aggravated possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.

New Lenox Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz said police recovered computers and an external drive containing child pornography files, which White admitted were his.

Pawlisz said he thought all of the images had been downloaded from the internet and didn’t involve any local residents, but was unsure how many images were on the drive.

“I think police agencies are starting to catch up with the technology,” Pawlisz said in response to a comment about increasing child pornography arrests in Will County and elsewhere.

He credited the high-technology crimes unit with alerting New Lenox Police “that someone in the village was downloading child pornography.” The department then worked with the state’s attorney’s office to obtain a search warrant for the location of the download, which turned out to be White’s home, he said.

Charles Pelkie, spokesman for State’s Attorney James Glasgow, said Tinley Park Police also aided the investigation by the high-technology crimes unit formed and headed by Rich Wistocki.

The two earlier defendants, Bolingbrook resident Joseph A. Truschke and Romeoville resident Jason C. Horton, are also charged with five counts of aggravated possession of child pornography.

Truschke is scheduled to be formally arraigned Tuesday and Horton is scheduled to appear at a July 19 pretrial hearing.

Pelkie said the only connection among Truschke, Horton and White was that they had individually accessed child-pornography websites monitored by Wistocki.
