Are you looking for that something new, that eye-catching touch for your garden? Then go native with plants from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s native-plant sale on May 11 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and May 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook.

The sale will feature over 100 species of native flowers, grasses, ferns, shrubs and trees suitable for sunny, shady, wet or dry conditions. See a catalog with prices and plant information at www.dupageforest.org/nativeplantsale.

Shoppers will receive personal attention from naturalists ready with advice on plant selection and garden design. “Whether they are starting from scratch or augmenting existing plantings, we’ll help gardeners make the best choices for any setting,” says Marcy Rogge, the plant sale’s coordinator. This year’s sale will include a special focus on plants that attract and sustain pollinators. “These hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other small creatures are key to helping plants everywhere produce fruit and seeds,” says Rogge. “Plus, many plants that attract pollinators offer interesting textures and bright colors and make low-maintenance additions to a home landscape.”

Mayslake Peabody Estate is located at 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook. For more information on the native-plant sale, call 630-933-7208.
