On Friday, May 25, 2012, Child’s Voice will celebrate the end of the school year and recognize over 18 students with hearing loss as they move on to their neighborhood schools. Child’s Voice is a non-profit organization that provides listening and spoken language education to children with hearing loss from across the Chicago area.

“This is such an exciting time! We are graduating the largest class to date and to be recognizing this many children as they close this chapter in their life is so meaningful to all of us. We know they have so many exciting chapters ahead in their journey," shared Dr. Michele Wilkins, Child’s Voice Executive Director. “This day also allows all of us to take a moment to recognize the hard work of everyone: the children, their parents and our staff. This is one more opportunity for me to say thank you to so many amazing individuals and I am so grateful to all of them.”

The Recognition Ceremony is an annual event in honor of all Child’s Voice students, those moving on to their neighborhood schools as well as the Staff member of the year and the Parent Volunteer of the year. Children will be moving into Pre-K, 1st and 2nd mainstream classrooms in 16 different school districts. Child’s Voice is happy to hold this year’s event at Bobak’s Signature Events at Seven Bridges in Woodridge.

“This is a milestone,” stated Dr. Dawn Violetto, Director of Audiology. “This isn’t a typical kindergarten graduation. This step means these students worked hard and are now able to communicate with their hearing peers. We’re so happy and so proud of them.”

In addition to the graduate speeches and presentation of diplomas, all children present a number of songs and the Early Intervention Program displays a video of the children. Children in the Early Intervention Program range in age from just a few weeks to 3 years old.

The Recognition Ceremony is open to the public for those that wish to celebrate the children of Child’s Voice. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. and the Ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. at Bobak’s Signature Events at Seven Bridges, 6440 Double Eagle Dr., Woodridge.
