OPUS (Orchestra Parents/Patrons United Support) invites intermediate-to-advanced violinists, violists, cellists, bassists, pianists, clarinetists, flutists and classical guitarists, ages 8 – 18, to attend its tenth annual summer day camp at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, from August 4-10, 2012.

The schedule includes daily chamber music coachings, technique classes, master classes, seminars, chamber orchestra or handbell choir rehearsals, faculty chamber music performances, lunch and recreation.

A Creative Music Workshop will explore elements of composition and/or music arranging, and campers will learn about music from another part of the globe in a World Culture Workshop.

Campers will perform in the “Listen to Our Young Artists” Concert on Friday evening, August 10, at Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville. The concert is free and open to the public.

Faculty members include members of OPUS Camp’s Ensemble-in-Residence, the Orion Ensemble. They are joined by members of the Spectrum Trio, and other performers and music educators from the Chicago area and beyond.

OPUS is a charitable (501(c)3), not-for-profit organization that actively supports and promotes chamber and orchestral music education for young musicians. In addition to the camp, OPUS also sponsors community outreach programs held at senior homes and hospitals.
