Momma Cuisine: Visiting WGN Midday News

Momma Cuisine at WGN Midday News for the Lunchbreak segment.

Last Wednesday April 11, 2012, I was a guest on the WGN Midday News Lunchbreak segment with anchor Dina Biar, showcasing some of my Great Everyday Meals recipes using an affordable and delicious fish, Tilapia.

Once upon a time, I had dreams of becoming a journalist. As I studied Journalism, with a concentration in Magazine Journalism at Columbia College Chicago, I had an opportunity to visit CLTV as a part of the program. I had not been inside a news studio since.

Upon entering WGN Studios, it was only natural that I was nervous and anxious. Seeing the crew buzzing about the different studios, and the banners of famous TV shows like, "Friends" lining the walls made me extremely excited!

Because the Lunchbreak segment was the last segment of the Midday News, I had the greatest opportunity to watch the entire Midday News live, right in front of my eyes. The anchors, Dina Biar and Steve Sanders did their entire broadcast as I stood watching, nervously waiting for my part.

Being in front of the cameras is nothing new to me since I also host the Momma Cuisine Show ( However, this scale is very different, and the thought of having thousands of people watching me across the nation for five minutes cook Tilapia was making me sick.

But I quickly thought of the many moms, parents and people in general I could help with my Great Everyday Meals. This was exactly the opportunity I had been working for at this time! What a great way to introduce Momma Cuisine and my Great Everyday Meals to so many families. To show people that Great Everyday Meals can be done with simple ingredients and basic cooking techniques, is what drives me.
