The weekend of March 17 and 18, Community Christian Church’s 12 Chicago area campuses raised a total of $575,000 in their weekend offerings and gave away every dollar in Community’s fifth annual “Celebration Generosity.” Initiated at Community in 2008, Celebration Generosity is a weekend in which every dollar of every donation from a single weekend is donated to one of five “teams,” each dedicated to a specific mission:
•Community 4:12 – to address poverty and justice issues in under-resourced areas like east Aurora and Joliet, Illinois
•Haiti – to rebuild communities and impact the people of Haiti through a partnership with World Relief.
•Philippines – removing children from poverty and abuse on the streets, starting new churches, and offering quality education for local communities.
•NewThing – to start new churches around the world relentlessly dedicated to helping people find their way back to God.
•Local – each church campus has projects specifically allocated to restoring their communities: working with schools, park districts and city councils. Every church campus is dedicated to serving their local community.

Community’s Lead Pastor Dave Ferguson noted the vast level of participation in Celebration Generosity this year, saying, “1183 families/individuals gave to this year's Celebration Generosity. We also had 182 families and individuals that gave for the very first time!”

Ferguson added, “Together we'll bring restoration to places locally and globally that need hope and healing. Together we will reach people far from God. Together we will reproduce over and over the mission of God in communities so that more people can find their way back to God.”

All 12 Community Christian Church campuses throughout Chicagoland participated in Celebration Generosity. In its five year history, Celebration Generosity has given away $2.3 million to these causes.

Ferguson said of Celebration Generosity, "This is one of the most anticipated weekends we have all year, and the fact is, generosity is contagious, and nothing gets us more excited than giving away a bunch of money to other organizations that are changing their communities and the world."

Community Christian Church is a nondenominational Christian church whose mission is helping people find their way back to God with 12 locations throughout Chicagoland. To learn more about Community Christian Church, call 630-388-5000 or visit www.communitychristian.org.
