Starting a Side Business to Make Extra Income?

173318_1.jpg

Before you print those business cards, make sure you get your website set up!

No matter what products or services you plan to offer, a website gives you a 24/7 marketing tool and using a corresponding email addresss from your site looks far more professional than “Babyface2033@aol.com.”

The budget is often tight when starting a side business, but there are plenty of options to get online inexpensively. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that some cheap web-builders limit what you can do with their websites. When your business grows and you need more features on your site to serve your customers, you may find your cheap web-builder can’t support the functions you want, forcing you to start all over again with a new web developer.

DotNetNukeNow is the web solution that grows with you. Based on Microsoft’s .NET technology, DotNetNuke is used by companies as big as Pier One down to the smallest hobby business.

As an Open Source solution, DotNetNuke is free to use, but getting started usually requires some serious technical skill. DotNetNukeNow provides you with a basic website all ready to be customized with your logo, photos and text with minimal effort. Your basic website can be launched immediately and as your business prospers, you can add new, more sophisticated modules to meet your growing needs.

To make it even easier to get started, a free website workshop will be held on Thursday, May 20, at the Naperville Chamber of Commerce conference room. Bring your laptop and your marketing message and our webmasters will teach you how to upload your logo, how to add your information, and how to update the pages on your own in the future.

With no start-up fee and only month-to-month hosting costs, DotNetNukeNow is also easy on your start-up budget.

Seating is limited, so register now to reserve your place. To register or to learn more, see the DotNetNukeNow website.

Two local web development companies will guide participants in building a basic website for their business, charitable event or organization during this free 90 minute workshop.

Attendees bringing their laptop computers and marketing materials will be guided in creating their own website using a Content Management System called DotNetNuke. This widely used system is based on Microsofts .NET technology. Each attendee will be given access to their own web pages during the workshop and will be guided through the steps to add their own logo, photos, and text. With the techniques learned during the workshop, attendees can continue adding and editing the pages after they leave the class. If they decide to launch the website, workshop attendees pay only the $15 per month hosting fee. The DotNetNuke system continues to be free to use.

This workshop to build websites using DotNetNukeNow is a joint effort by J&S Tech Design and Gnu Ventures Company, web developers serving the DuPage area since 1996. To learn more about the “Build a Website Workshop” and to register, visit www.DotNetNukeNow.com.
