Fire Department seeking clunkers for rescue drills

Anyone with a “clunker” vehicle can now send it to the Naperville Fire Department instead of the junkyard.

The department is in need of old vehicles it can use to train rescuers on extrication operations to prepare for using the Jaws of Life or cutting tools to remove victims from their vehicles in serious accidents.

Residents or businesses wishing to donate a vehicle must have the keys and title. The department can pick up vehicles that are not drivable as long as they are within city limits. To donate a vehicle, contact Ruthi Sommers at (630) 305-5900 or
