Man calls 911 for ride home

A Chicago man looking for a ride home from Naperville got a ride to the police station instead.

The 23-year-old from the 2700 block of West Polk called 911 about 12:56 a.m. Tuesday saying he had been robbed by two men who stole his wallet, according to police. Police met the man near the downtown train station in the 100 block of East 4th Avenue and began to interview him and canvas the area.

“Officers noticed things didn’t seem to add up, and he just kept reiterating he just wanted to get home,” Sgt. Gregg Bell said.

The man eventually admitted he hadn’t been robbed, he just wanted a ride, according to Bell.

The man was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report.
