National group recognizes Naper Settlement

Naper Settlement has earned national accreditation for its second time.

The living history museum received the designation from the American Association of Museums after extensive self-study and a visit by peer reviewers. It is the only museum the group has accredited in DuPage County and one of only 25 in Illinois, according to museum officials.

“Since 2002 when we first received accreditation, we have made many improvements based on the peer reviewers’ recommendations, including our new Collections Care and Storage Facility, expansion to our research efforts and development of an engaging new visitors’ interpretive experience,” Naper Settlement President & CEO Peggy Frank said in a news release. “The accreditation process allows a museum to take an introspective look at all aspects of its operations and it has helped us to continually improve to better serve our public.”
