Nancy Schillerstrom, active in DuPage Republican politics, dies

Nancy R. Schillerstrom, mother of former DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom, took an increased interest in politics after her husband Glen died in 1987.

She became a precinct committeewoman and an election judge in both Lisle and Naperville townships, and she also ran Lisle Township’s Republican Party headquarters office for about a decade. She ran unsuccessfully for Lisle Township clerk in January 1989.

“Nancy was what you would call a moderate Republican. You would not call her an ultraconservative,” said Norman Sula, a former Illinois Prisoner Review Board member and former Lisle Township trustee. “Glen was well respected and independent, and she carried that streak along.”

A resident of Naperville since 1959, Mrs. Schillerstrom, 81, died Saturday, Sept. 3, at Edward Hospital in Naperville after a long illness, her son said.
