High School Player ofthe Month voting underway


The TribLocal High School Player of The Month contest is underway featuring deserving student athletes from local high schools.

Liberty Auto City in Libertyville and TribLocal have teamed up to recognize student athletes and make donations to local schools.

Contest sponsor Liberty Auto City will make a monetary donation to the winner’s school and the athlete will be honored with a plaque. Last month’s winner was Brienne Minor, a tennis star, from Carmel High School

Any registered user of may vote. Registering is easy and free. Click here to vote

Voting in September’s contest will end at 9 p.m., Nov. 24.

The nominees include:


Morgan Dickson recently set the school pool record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.49. She started out the season with top finishes at both the Lake County Meet and the Glenbrook North Invite.


Erin Falconer placed fifth in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 free. She also swam on the third place 200 medley relay team and helped her team set a state record in the 400-yard freestyle relay.


Alexxis Kiven took the title in #1 singles at the championship round of the North Suburban Conference girls tennis tournament.


Jordan Kos had 226 yards on 19 carries and five touchdowns against St. Viator. In the double overtime loss to Marist he had 275 yards on only 23 carries and two touchdowns.

Vernon Hills

Megan Meline had 13 kills against Antioch and she had six kills, 10 digs and an ace in loss to Lake Forest.

Lake Zurich

John Pothast is Lake Zurich soccer team’s leading scorer. He scored the game winner early on in teams opening playoff game against McHenry and scored the game winning penalty against Cary Grove.
