Mt. Prospect/Prospect Heights Relay for Life a Great Success

According to Prospect High School Service Learning Coordinator David Jacobson, the recent Mount Prospect/Prospect Heights 2012 Relay for Life was a "smashing success," raising over $82,000 for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer. Hundreds of Prospect students, staff, and community members turned out for the 12-hour relay on Friday and Saturday, May 18-19.

Highlights included inspirational speeches by cancer survivors Haley Helstrom and Jay Kyp-Johnson, the survivor laps, and the Luminaria and Fight Back ceremonies. Entertainment was provided by Jazzercise, and Prospect’s Guitar Club, One Stop, Xentricity, Untouchables, and Orchesis.

"A huge thanks goes out to everyone who helped organize and participate in the event," commented Jacobson. "It was truly a memorable experience!"
