Come Make a Night of it at Relay for Life!

rfl logo

Bring the entire family and plan to make a night of it at this year’s Relay for Life of Mt. Prospect/Prospect Heights. Food, entertainment, raffles and activities for young and old are just some of what’s planned for the overnight walk, which starts at 6 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Prospect High School and continues through 6 a.m. Saturday.

All eyes will be focused on the start line when cancer survivors lead the first lap at the 6 p.m. kickoff. Later that evening will be the moving luminaria ceremony at 9 p.m. and the fight back ceremony at 10 p.m. More than 50 teams will be walking all night in symbolic solidarity for loved and friends who’ve battled cancer. Come show your support.

Just some of the scheduled activities for Friday, May 18 include:

4:30 p.m. Gates open
5 p.m. Raffle tickets on sale
6 p.m. Opening ceremony
6:30 p.m. Survivor/caregiver laps
7 p.m. Kids Korner (until 9 p.m.)
9 p.m. Luminaria ceremony
1 p.m. Fight Back ceremony
12 a.m. Midnight movie
5 a.m. Cleanup laps
5:30 a.m. Closing ceremonies

The mayors of both Mt. Prospect and Prospect Heights will be on hand for the opening ceremony at 6 p.m., and a very special 9-year-old cancer survivor and her mom will share their story to inspire our walkers.

Main stage and other events throughout the night will include: Jazzercise; activities and entertainment by Lincoln Jr. High Track & Field Fairview’s fourth graders, Prospect’s badminton/tennis teams and the PHS Guitar Club; Mariano’s healthy cooking demonstration; performances by One Stop, Xentricity & Untouchables; a baggo tournament and more. The Rewind, radio 100.3, will also be on site.
