The Lira Ensemble is the nation's only professional performing arts company specializing in Polish music, song and dance.

The Lira Singers Quartet and Lira Dancers of The Lira Ensemble will perform March 25 at Forest View Educational Center in Arlington Heights. The Lira Ensemble, artists-in-residence at Loyola University Chicago, is the nation’s only professional performing arts company specializing in Polish music, song and dance. Performers will sing in the original Polish language, dressed in authentic Polish costume, with narratives in English.

The March 25 performance is part of District 214 Community Education’s “World Stage Series” and features Polish dances and both folk and classical music. Guest pianist Daniel Szefer, a 13-year-old prodigy, will play a selection of Chopin pieces as part of the presentation.

The World Stage Series is supported in part by the Illinois Arts Council and celebrates the many cultures that comprise our community. The series continues April 22 with an Irish show featuring The Irish Heritage Singers and Trinity Irish Dancers.

Forest View Educational Center is located at 2121 S. Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights. Tickets may be reserved by calling 847-718-7700 Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are also available at the door and in the District 214 Community Education office at Forest View Educational Center during the same hours.
