Euclid Elementary Students Begin Personal Libraries with Help from Tata and First Book

Tata Steel International and Tata Sons celebrated their recently announced gift of 10,000 new books to Chicago-area school children at a reading celebration at the Euclid Elementary School in Mt. Prospect. This gift was made through Tata Sons’ partnership with First Book, a nonprofit organization that provides new books to children from low-income families.

Nearly 20 volunteers from Schaumburg-based Tata Steel International and representatives from First Book and Tata Sons participated in reading circles with a group of second-grade students and presented each student with two books, I Can Save the Earth and The Magic Box, to start their own library.

Joining Euclid Principal Laura Gammons, was Chris McCarthy, President and Director of Tata Steel International Americas; Julia Hornaday of First Book; and Niharika Chibber Joe, General Manager-North America, Tata Sons - all of whom participated in the day’s activities.
