Kara Silva

Community Producer
My name is Kara Silva, and I am the community producer for the TribLocal towns of Barrington, Palatine, Cary, Fox River Grove, Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, McHenry and Woodstock.

I am here to get the news out about these communities as well as help citizen contributors get their stories, photos and events featured online and in TribLocal’s weekly print edition that is delivered with the Chicago Tribune on Thursdays and as a standalone publication on Saturdays.

As a Winfield resident, I like community journalism because it allows me to utilize my love for writing and photography to help tell the stories that matter most to my fellow suburbanites.

In my spare time, I'm a travel addict/adventure junkie, and I spend every ounce of energy diligently crossing items off my bucket list, while simultaneously adding to it in the process. The after-work unwind generally includes reality T.V. shows like the "Real Housewives" of wherever, reading, writing or spending time with friends and family.
