Tribune reporter
I’m Jeff Vorva and I’m a reporter for Orland Park most of the time and try to squeeze in some sports for all 21 of our zones some of the time.
I’ve been working professionally at newspapers since I was a junior in high school in 1977 which means I’ve been at it for...well, I can’t count that high. Let’s just say, I’m a seasoned veteran.
I still love the print product and don’t hate the Internet. In my career, I’ve covered some exciting events including the Indy 500, three of the Bulls championships, the White Sox winning the World Series and the Cubs “Bartman” game. Even with all of that behind me, I enjoy writing about local people with great stories to tell. My philosophy for a good story is to try to make the readers laugh, cry or think.
When I’m not working, my wife, Maggie, and I are in the unpaid chaffeur business, taking our two athletic kids — Lauren and T.J. -- to school, basketball and volleyball practices, games and matches. We used to have a life of our own many years ago.

  1. @illini8208 Good catch, Illini. It’s 2007. Don’t know how 1979 got in there…I’ll blame the computer. :)

I know all about Tommie. He is a stud football player and I hope he does well at Prudue.

Tommie was also a pretty good basketball player, too if I recall.

He’s not on our list because, at this point, Richards and Oak Lawn are not in the Triblocal community coverage area. But if we ever do come into Oak Lawn, there will be a ton of good athletes to keep an eye on.
