Sheriff: Vehicle full of teens was going nearly 100 mph

A vehicle full of teens was speeding more than 40 mph over the limit in McHenry County when it was stopped early this morning, which might have saved six young lives, officials said.

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said speeding is a contributing cause in many fatal traffic crashes, and this vehicle contained six people under the age of 18 when it was pulled over for going 95 mph at 5:15 a.m. on eastbound Ill. Route 176 near Marengo.
