A 22-year-old man is due in court Jan. 19 after being subdued by the business owner of the construction company he was reportedly trying to rob.

Kyle M. Griebel, of McHenry, was charged with a felony count of burglary Monday after sheriff’s deputies reportedly found him tied up at the business located on the 500 block of Eastview Avenue near Lakemoor.

Deputies and the business owner responded to the burglar alarm that went off around 6:45 a.m. Monday.

The business owner allegedly tied Griebel up with an electrical cord after finding him hiding in the warehouse wearing a ski mask and gloves, said Undersheriff Andrew Zinke, of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

“We commend the guy for doing it, but we always caution people that we would rather they call the police,” Zinke said.

Deputies arrived a short time later and took Griebel into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
