Montini does it again with third straight Class 3A title

Montini's girls basketball team didn't exactly have its usual dominant season as it did the past two years when the Broncos combined to go 69-3 and claim two Illinois High School Association Class 3A titles. But the Broncos were able to surprise some people – including their coach – by winning their third straight title and put themselves in a historic position. Only Teutopolous and Bolingbrook have won three straight titles. Montini's shot at being the only team in state history to win four straight looks strong as this year it featured a roster with just two seniors and four juniors. They came into the postseason with five losses and left some wondering if they had enough to make a deep playoff run. But they left Redbird Arena in Normal with another state championship trophy after a 56-38 victory over Vernon Hills Saturday afternoon. Read the complete story
