State Senator Suzi Schmidt. (Lake County Sheriff's police / June 12, 2012)

State Sen. Suzi Schmidt was arrested by Lake County Sheriff’s deputies this afternoon on a misdemeanor warrant alleging that she damaged her neighbor’s property and trespassed, both stemming from a dispute with her neighbor, authorities said.

Officers also served Schmidt with an “emergency stalking no contact order,” which orders her to stay away from the same neighbor, according to a press release issued by Chief Wayne Hunter, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

Schmidt, 60, R-Lake Villa, was taken into custody at about 5:15 p.m. without incident at a Menards in the 6600 block of Grand Avenue in Gurnee, Hunter said. Bail was set at $5,000.
