The North Shore Garden Club is proud to announce its 2012 scholarship recipients. Three students were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship to continue studying horticulture at the College of Lake County. Kate Johnson of Lincolnshire is working on a certificate in aboriculture, Bernard Kondenar of Antioch is studying organic agriculture, and Chong Pak of Mundelein is pursuing an AAS in Production. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must have already completed at least 9 hours in the School of Horticulture with a cumulative 3.0 GPA. The club’s philanthropy committee selects recipients based upon written applications submitted by the students. The North Shore Garden Club, founded in 1916, is committed to furthering horticultural education, conservation, and landscape design through gift scholarships. Funds for the scholarships come from the proceeds of the club’s biennial Garden Walk, which will be on June 20, 2012. For more information go to www.northshoregardenclub.org
