Lake County’s Oldest Congregation

It’s funky; it’s olde; it’s still standing! The Washburn Congregation–Lake County’s oldest congregation–originaly met in this humble building (circa 1842-1844). Later it would serve as the Vernon Town Hall. Adlai Stevenson voted for himself in the 1952 presidential election! Adjacent to the annex is the church building itself, built in 1921. The public is welcome to a Guitar and Mandolin intimate and instrumental Christmas concert on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. Support local musicians, and support “this olde church”!
