Woman’s fake excuse to get our of work was forgery, police say

Lincolnshire police charged an Antioch woman with forgery for writing excuses to get out of work on county government letterhead.

Misty Jurs, 37, of the 400 block of Donin Drive, was charged March 13 with forgery and deceptive practices. She also is accused of writing a bad check

Jurs, who has and prior charge of deceptive practices in McHenry County, was enrolled in a program for first-time offenders at the time of the alleged offenses, police said.

She was working at a business on Overlook Drive when she presented notes written on the McHenry County letterhead that said she would be absent from work due to court dates in McHenry County, Lincolnshire Police Investigator Adam Hyde said.

Hyde said Jurs also wrote a bad check from a closed account to purchase a Bears jersey in December 2011, which the victim reported to police.

Jurs appeared March 13 in court at Lake County where bond was set at $5,000.
