Sports Ball Heads to Harry Caray’s!

     La Grange, IL–Plans are underway for Aging Care Connection’s ninth annual Sports Ball Benefit Gala to be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at Harry Caray’s, Lombard. Paula Faris of WMAQ-TV will emcee the event.  Celebrity athletes representing major league teams will headline the evening of tailgate cocktails, skybox dining, auctions and dancing to the music of J.P. and the Cats. Sports Ball is Aging Care Connection’s major fundraising event held to support the organizations social service programs to assist those 60 years of age and older in suburban southwest and west communities.

     The event will give guests the opportunity to meet celebrity athletes who will sign autographs and answer questions about the outstanding careers they enjoyed with major league teams. Celebrities who have attended in the past include Darnell Autry, Dick Jauron, Glen Kozlowski, Bob Love, Peter Marsh, Minnie Minoso, Troy Murray, Bill Moose Skowron, Bob Vanderberg, Connie Payton, Dutchie Caray and Marcus Washington among others.

     Planning Committee members include: Linda Dishman, Burr Ridge; Katie Jaskierski, Chicago; Chrisy Banakis, Downers Grove; Lizzi Chibucos, Elmhurst; Lora Collins and GeriAnne Salach, Hinsdale; Lora Jeffrey, LaVerne Loayza, Cathy McCrory, Laura Schwartz, Stefani Shanley, and Karen Westrick, La Grange; Melissa Budak , La Grange Park; Katie Elster, Libertyville; Lois Barnett, Lisle; Patty Castronova, Northlake; Margaret Mary Mallon, Oak Brook; Jeanne Martin, Prospect Heights; Mike Doepke, Vallerie Dontes, Susan Druffel and Saranne Milano, Western Springs; Sue Tutt-Parsons and Alec Parsons, Westchester; and Tom Adams and Niki Chibucos, Westmont.

   The Planning Committee is actively recruiting new members who are interested in sports, fundraising, events, and fun.  Meetings are held at Aging Care Connections, 111 W.      Aging Care Connections is a non-profit organization which is the connection to the most comprehensive, expert information, programs and services enabling older adults to remain independent and their families to make the best, most informed decisions regarding needed care in their lives. Serving 22 communities in Lyons, Riverside and South Proviso Townships, Aging Care Connections programs and services are made possible by community support and donations, and, in part, by the Illinois Department on Aging (IDOA), AgeOptions, Community Memorial Foundation and local United Ways.
